If Mohammed was an Arab, why does the Quran recognise Jewish prophets?

Islam traces its history back to many of the prophets that are found in Judaism. They were not Jewish in the beginning though. The term Jew or Jewish came along much later. They were actually the predecessors to Judaism. So it is the history of these men that both the Jews and the Muslims connect with. God Bless! +?+
