Should I get Command and Conquer 4?

In about 9 hours I'm headed over to futureshop to buy C&C4. I've never played a RTS before, but just recently I've tried out the R.U.S.E public beta and I loved it. My friends play with me and they are all thinking of getting C&C4. I've seen a lot of comments on youtube saying it is lame, and even a few of the beta testers say it wasn't very good. Do you think its worth it to buy C&C4 cause my friends will play with me? I'm not exactly a fan of how supposedly the higher level you are you get better units, that doesn't seem new-user friendly. Please share opinions.
